Beautiful gift

I feel so touched so touched...listening, watching, feeling how someone expresses her talent so naturally and beautifully. And this is exactly what I love to do. To live authentically and express my truth. My truth in longing wanting, to inspire people to express their gift. It's a beautiful thing.

Molecule of music

This got me smiling, grinning in awe of not so much of the music, but the community spirit. The surprise of bringing classical music to the street. Look at how everyone seems to be brought to their feet, how those children "join in" the conducting of the piece of music with their fingers in mid air, flowing with the rhythm, totally immersed. It's such pure joy to experience how little things like this bring so much pleasure to so many human beings that everyone seems connected at that very moment where the music is playing. It's as if each tune of the piece have permeate through the little air molecules that we breathe in and and out all together, hand in hand.

Soulbirds union with love and joy

Soulbirds are married! Finally! Yes! I'm still listening to "Love is a gift" song as I'm writing this. This is my new life's anthem. Whenever I hear this, I'm filled with so much gratitude and love. For two person from different life to finally unite as one new life.. it is such a joyful moment. It don't just happen overnight. It takes lot of patience, understanding, love and most of all gratitude & appreciation. The certificate of marriage is nothing compared to the a year long of preparation processes, the little hiccups, the differences in concept of planning. It is really quite a process! We were terrified being caught in such process that involves more than just us but families. To think back now, it is perhaps a necessary step to prepare both of us to grow to a next stage of life. Always find a way to work together. Be patient and always holds gratitude in your heart is the key to all relationship. We are fortunate to have friends, loved ones around us to support us and make our wedding a blast! yeah! The moment just before you said the vow is one moment you wont truly understand till you actually doing it. I always wonder why do woman tears during the vow. I thought it was about being so touched. But being at that moment myself, I think its a mixture of anxiousness and gratitude. Anxiousness in taking a leap into an unknown, making that commitment that you will stick together no matter what. Gratitude in having found this person you are willing to take a leap with, you are willing to hold his hands wherever you go and grow old together with. It is no small deal. I'm like a bird, I love to fly, explore and wander. To finally meet someone who can fly together with me is what I'm really grateful for.

Asking good question

"These days when young people tell me they want to be lawyers, I tell them to go for it, but be aware that the real thing is nothing quite like the movies." -quoted from an article written by an IT journalist in the paper, speaking of his experience of discovering how being a lawyer is not meant for him after working in the law industry for 4 years. The article is beautifully written and most of all, it strike a chord. Well I'm no lawyer. Toy around with that idea long way back when I was still in elementary school. But decided designing is more exciting. Yeah! I get to create and have a chance to make a difference or so I thought. It sounds awesomely cool to be called a designer isn't it.

2 years in design agency proves to be more depressing than exciting. Late night works, last minute changes to make logo bigger and fill in catalog with as much products as possible as requested by the client. We don't get to deal with clients directly because there is a role called account exec. That means we have no voice to speak and sell our ideas at all. I got out of agency, grasping for life, doing occasional freelance works and it's just so common to meet clients who take freelancers as "free lunch" literally, not paying or late payment for works that consist of endless amendments. Went on with a few other stints as insurance advisor, computer art teacher for the kids and etc. I never really lose my roots in design.

I'm lucky to meet a toy company and got in as a designer who does almost everything under the sun. Of all things I learnt over the course of my years being a designer, something I'm glad I didn't missed out is that no matter what you do, what you work, eventually it all comes full circle to a lesson of life. I learn about love, giving, truthfulness, big hearts, managing expectation, making the best out of emotion. What I remember most of my days as a designer are the zest in the discussion of a "big idea" with colleagues, friends. The little sweet and sometimes silly things people do.

I have seen friends parting the glamourous ad agency and doing completely different things but with so much more fulfillment.

Time will change, glamour will fade, dream will change as we grow. Movies are fictional. The fact is there is a long story, hard work behind every job, every role. It is up to us to make it a love story.

Work is love made visible. "- Kahlil Gibran

I'm thankful of all lessons I get being a designer. It gives me the space to reconnect with myself and constantly challenging myself by asking question out of the box. In life as much as design, asking good question proves pivotal to a breakthrough.

Birds birds birds

Just finished watching this show! Love it! All about birds! of course, in the end, its all about love, family and that buddy of yours. I never knew there are so many species of birds, or rather, they are never in my "radar" until I met my Bird of course. Through a series of synchronicity, messages birds bring. I grow to be so in love with looking out for bird (No, I'm not doing a big year, I just love those moments of excitement as if time stops right there for me and my Bird).

Some ways I learnt to better spot a bird;

1. Listen. Listen to the singing. You can pretty much guess the size. Based on this tiny info, you can look out for nearby trees for tiny birds.
2. Listen again, Listen for the distance and direction where the bird is.
3. Be patient. Don't move hastily. (Even human would run away, let alone birds.)
4. Walk slowly, one foot at a time. Be in tune with each step you take, get into a rhythm, momentum with the surrounding.
5. After a heavy rain, birds are out to clear the worms.
6. They go where the fruits, food are. So look out for trees with fruits.
7. Look out for little corners where birds may take shelter from.
8. Be in love with each moment you are in.

One day

Happy Valentines day! Happy love day! It's 14.02! A date I put on poster and urge people to buy gift for their loved ones. That's my job. Ironically, I didn't really specially buy gift for bird for this day. Guess I prefer a no stress way of gift buying. Hehe I have given bird a few gifts of laughters this past few days out of my clumsy acts. Seriously I don't mind wrapping a ribbon over myself n say there you are; your gift! Haha this is the sort of silly random things that bee would love to do on bee style. Haha it's gonna be our bird days literally for the soulbirds hehe I'm looking forward because its such an unique feeling to know ur best friend is your hubby to be and both share the same date. I do somehow feel that this is guided. I won't forget how I can't stand bird when I first know him and my little astonishment to know that he share the same birthdate as me! I almost flip off my chair n quickly go Facebook to hide my birthday since I don't want to let bird know. It was hilarious! I even go to my boss n ask did he purposely find someone who shared the same birthday to curb my nonsense hahaha of course my boss have no idea about it! He just gave me a smirk on his face. To think of it now, I was such a kid. I'm still a kid. Just a little more sensitive n sensible I guess.

It's raining heavily. I'm hiding in McDonald, sipping hot tea alone. An aloneness I appreciate. Looking at teenagers passing by carrying rose reminds me of my teenage days. How girls would gift each other little sweet heart shaped cards with sweet "best friends" messages. And how the school seems to be so full of love with people running sneaking around to pass secret letter or flowers. How everyone seems to be excited about being admired or admiring someone. If I didnt remember wrongly, I received a super large card and a teddy bear from one of the scouts. I was stunned and excited and all those mixed feelings. Most of all, being a little weirdo me.. I was thinking oh no why a teddy bear! I'm not your typical Girly girl! Haha I might have asked the person, why me? Hahaha I don't remember if I get an answer. After which, I do remember there always is those teasing and awkwardness when we were at our girl guide n scout event. Oh by the way! I suddenly remember! That guy prob had the same name as me! My mandarin name pronunciation! Of course, for probably just a brief one moment, we held hands. It feels awkward! It wasn't love of course. Probably not even infatuation. He was a nice hearted person. It's simply something teenagers do. Haha a side story.. In the end I chose someone who sneak an anonymous drawing under my school desk! Someone who make me draws out my gut to confront if that's his drawing. And guess what he said no! Haha imagine my embarrassment! But as always, I walked away like nothing though I really want to bury my head. It's funny! I did confront the right person, the person who drew me the picture which I don't remember what it is now. So guess after all, I'm more interested in drawings than teddy bear. Some call this puppy love. I thought it sounded real silly. At that point of time, No one thinks about living together forever or any future. But yet it was after all a first exploration, adventure into the world of "emotions and perhaps love" It was nice, sweet, memorable, painful and a lesson. It's all a part of living life.

As years passed, valentine days is more of a a day to remember love, celebrate love with your loved ones; your partner, friends, family:)

Its not about the gift nor the flower. It's about remembering and appreciation of one another:)

Insights on Anger

Anger is a passing emotion and there are healthy ways to express it. It's when we hang on to anger that it hurts us most.

When we repress anger, it grows from frustration into resentment. This how we unknowingly began building an invisible wall around us; accumulating layers and layers of negative emotional energy that clouds out the love, joy and peace in our lives.

Kaleidoscopic me

I am kaleidoscope
You are rays of light

01.01.2013

First day of the year. This morning I woke up at 6.30am, look out of the window..the air feels fresh, the sky is brightening to a tint of charming blue. I hear the birds whisper, I wake with them in their singing. I feel kaleidoscopic. I feel great. I feel fearless. I feel all lights in me. I feel I'm radiating with a peaceful energy in colorful multitude. I accept me. I breathe colors. My core is dancing. Dance with me. Nothing gonna stop me. I love you. I love me. I love how my cells are made of kaleidoscopic flowers.

Bird make bee utterly touched!

I never really understand why do people tear when they feel touched. I always envy and wonder how that happens.

I have my answer today. Bird just text something that totally describe how I feel even without myself knowing how to describe that feeling. Imagine me reading message on my phone over a bowl of leftover instant noodle soup and the next moment tears just flow uncontrollably down my cheeks and my heart feel totally touched! Yes! Touched, hugged.. That very moment filled with so much gratefulness that I meet bird in my life and having this gift to be with him, sharing our lives.

Lessons, holiday, life

Baby durian found in ubin:) There are soft!

Birds gliding in the sky in evening
I love Cycling.. in nature:D
Beautiful flower spotted by Bird
sitting by the pool, dreaming of being rich

"Swimming" love the view!!
Bird trying to snap a pic of a cat with jade color eyes:)
These been how I spent my time past few days, in fact over the weekends. My one week leave is coming to an end. Tomorrow is back to work. But before I slipped back into a every day's routine, thought I could note some of my experience here:

Had a great time at weekend stay over at Changi Village hotel. Well mainly because the rooftop with quiet swimming pool that opens up to the vastness of sea view and unlike roof top in MBS (which is cluttered with all sort of people), its really simple and idyllic here with birds chirping and flying around. And in the evening, there are bars, local or asian food line up just beside the hotel. It's like an island within an island feel for me. It's a short boat ride to Ubin which opens up to a rustic nature, birds soaring in the evening sky. I saw a pair of toucan birds, large birds, swallows, wild boars, many dogs and baby durian, a beautiful tranquil quarry lake with such nice water. And I'm grateful that I have Bird with me in all these beautiful pictures:)

A lesson about Richness:

In the evening, sitting by the pool with Bird, soaking in the ambiance, browsing magazine that showcases luxury watches, I can't help wondering how could I be rich, what business could I do to be rich to enjoy such exclusivity. I fight for growth, fight for increment, fight for fulfilment but being rich is never in my mind. I just wanted to have enough. What's enough? Well now to think of it, I'm not quite sure of that definition except that perhaps I'm being brought up to do enough, earn enough and keep trying to make enough. But the moment of tranquility by the pool opens up another perspective, another possibilities; Being rich is not for the rich only, being rich is for everyone. Richness comes in many forms. Being with Bird is an enriching experience. Being able to watch the birds and sunset, smell the flowers is richness. Love is richness. Most of all, it's alright to be rich. Maybe some of us are brought up in environment, thinking being rich means sacrifices of time, love and peace. But that night, something shifted in my mind or perhaps soul, rich is enriching. Rich can means growth, exclusivity, contributions, embrace of people, sharing joy, love and peace, power to give and many more. Rich encompasses different interconnectedness among various emotions. To be rich in monetary term, perhaps we have to begin with feeling rich in our consciousness (awareness), feel rich to give.

A lesson on how negotiating conflict in times of crisis is possible:

At night, we decided to watch a seminar video held by Tony Robbins, Negotiating conflict: Leadership in times of crisis. It is amazing how he bring clarity to two persons on polar ends to see each other eyes to eyes and eventually working together to form a association to spread peace. Something that I remember strongly was the subject on the four archetypes that exist in all of us and how to draw power from it. The warrior, magician, lover, sovereign.

A lesson on time:

I been reading a book by Mitch Albom; Timekeeper. "Time became the most precious commodity" something quoted from the book. It has somehow appear in my life for a good reason. At least I think so. I been always worry about not having enough time to do whatever I wanted to do. I worry that I would die too soon with too much dreams unfulfilled. This book shows me a different perspective about time. There is no such thing as time, if we human were not to count it or associate it to something else. We yearn for more time or faster or slower time, all because we associated time to something in our life. Just like I associated tomorrow; Monday to a work day because I have to be at somewhere doing something and everyone calls that a work day. But do we have to? Every day we are doing something, so at work or not, it doesn't have to be known as Monday. Can we associate Monday to fun, excitement? Well we can! And this one week holiday have made me aware of time somehow. Because as each day passes, I'm like getting stressed up about having to go back to work, to face some things that I'm not exactly happy about. But Monday is our time. Besides work, there could be alot more in it. Looking at my activities in one short week, I have many interactions with people, experiences, play, good food, nature, birds, love, knowledge and etc. None of these is really work. I have an issue of not being productive enough. But somehow my heart teaches me that productivity is not about how much work is accomplished but how much I have lived. I do feel that I live a great lot! Being with people I love, experiences that are uplifting. Time perhaps is how much space we gift ourselves. Perhaps guess I would have more to learn after finish reading the book. But right now, yeah! Let us create a space as large as we want in our life.

A lesson on breaths and vision:

I have always have difficulties in breathing once in a long while. Usually at over crowded places with thin air. My vision would turn green, my limbs would be slightly numb and sometimes, my vision would turn black. Yea. I would black out. Some open air and inhaler is good to bring me back. Yesterday, as I had an blackout episode in a bus while sitting down beside Bird. I was pretty much ok, alive, just a little sleepy. I leaned on Bird's shoulder and feeling uncomfortable with the position, I sat up and readjust myself. And suddenly, my vision turned green, breaths became short. Thinking that I would be fine after a while, I was not as fearful. Bird quickly used an inhaler for me to breathe. But my vision turned black. Yes I have consciousness. I tried opening my eyes, but I could only see black. Nothing. I hear voices around me. My limbs turned weak and I lost my strength to speak. Now, I'm really freaking out. I didn't think my life has come to an end. Not like this. That is my thought. I never really like black colour. People in design industry would know white is not a colour. But to me, black is not a colour because it's simply so dark that allows no light to go through, how could colour exist. Of course I know the science of it. But science cant really justify a lot of how we feel. I was so afraid, my thought was so loud "don't tell me I can't see anymore." Bird managed to get me out of the bus, I manage to caught a glimpse of light. But I still can't breathe well, felt really weak. I was so glad Bird is around. Bird brought me to clinic, doctor didn't find anything particularly wrong with me. Very slowly, I breathe again. I regained my energy bit by bit. Everything happened so fast it seems, yet it seems to be a long time. Being able to regain my vision, my energy back to my limbs, my voice, I realise I have so much. Many times, I am obsess with having a vision (a purpose), a dream in life. I have vision to see, to view, to appreciate. That's already a lot. Breathe is invisible, colorless, yet it's something we can't do without. What other things in life are invisible yet we can't do without? This is worth some thoughts.

We have the power to choose

There is something that perhaps give a false sense of security about following a routine and a set of patterns and habits. We human, like it or not, we are pretty habitual animals. We are good at establishing habits and following it consistently. Well I must admit, at some point, following a habit seems like the most convenient thing to do and perhaps the most time efficient thing. But how do we assure we are not trapped by patterns we established ourselves?
I realise most of my fears arise from patterns, from memories of how certain things could turn out to be based on past experiences which my mind seems to automatically sweep it into some set of patterns. There seems to have something like an activator of fear from each of these patterns.

Patterns are perhaps crafted from our different levels of fear and beliefs. If we could switch our mindset and change a perspective, we may notice pattern is there because we fear. I saw someone recently which reminded me of how fragile I was, how powerless I could be, how deep hurts could bring, how trust could be played out. It certainly stings. I remember that sting, I suddenly find myself scared of being caught in those same patterns. I certainly didn't want to feel powerless, ugly and unloved. The patterns repeat in my mind, the fear increases. And at some point, I made a conscious choice to say it's enough. I stood up for myself this time round. Why do I have to succumb to some sort of pattern that my mind wired up itself with memories of pain. Because undeniably, as the word pain could be felt, it's usually deep and sharp, which means definitely unforgettable in some ways. So it's only natural for the brain to wired itself up something unforgettable. But why do I have to take my mind so seriously when ultimately I'm the master of it. I have the power to hold it, empower it and of course setting it free from these patterns. Yes I made an conscious choice. I love, I give love to my mind from my heart. I called upon the energy of love. Because just as I know fear, I know love too. So why don't I let them meet and perhaps greet each other with grace instead of letting one hurting the other. I choose love. I felt loved. And most importantly, I know as much as I could be powerless and fragile, I have a heart of love to give. I choose to be love and to love, instead of being fear and be afraid.

Soulbirds found birdie nest!

Birds are created on this earth to remind human of
1) Possibilities. If small beings like birds can lift themselves and glide in the sky, there is a vast possibilities human can create and live with our energy and beings.
2) Lightness of the heart. No matter how high up we are, we must always live with a light heart because freedom does not lies in the flight itself but in the ability to let the wings take us in the wind.
So Happy Birds Day! And thank all birds who have been lifting my soul :)

Wrote this some time ago but didn't manage to jot it here till now. And today I found a nest with mummy and baby birds in it. I was thrilled! Mummy is really taking good care of the kiddo, sitting in the nest, watching over surrounding and the kids. It's my first time seeing nest with Birds!! Oh and I managed to get my Bird to marvel at the beauty of it together on the overhead bridge which also a special place for us both:) Bird got so thrilled that this moment helps him finally decide on getting a 35x zoom camera to take pic of the birds! Can you imagine in the whole universe, two silly person (at the same time beautiful in our own special ways I would say, haha) went roaming through the mall, looking for camera and asking people if we could use it immediately as we saw something we want to photograph. If this scene is from a story that I read, I be so excited!! So yeah! Im glad im in the story:) I'm with a man who can be so delighted by such simple beauty and looking out to capture the moment together.

"As the little bird flaps and spreads its wings, both our little hearts flutter as we leap with joy, eyes sparkle and give each other a hug of delight, love and awe." - probably one of my happiest moment in life - the moment where we leap together and the look on Bird's face is unforgettable! That delight and joy on the usually calm stoic face. Wow! In most of our journey together, we have been really honored and fortunate to be accompanied and lifted by birds of all sort. Swallows, sparrows, bluebird, green bird, eagle, long leg birds (which I have no idea what its name), "old wise birds".. well birds! our angels. There is probably no other better way to describe why our little space here is known as Soulbirds than this post here.

This Loro n Dolce

Loro is name for the new cloth for my phone haha! Yes I'm naming! Simply because I'm happy n it has this parrot colors (Loro means parrot in Spanish) oh and that's Dolce, the real parrot my friend found in his lift and is happy keeping it now. Im looking forward to play with it on Sunday!

Bird says bee needs an adventure. I seriously feel so. Bee just need to play! Any moment bee is not hyper about something, it's feeling kind of under the weather. N my bubblebulb (my idea bulb which bird name is bubble bulb because I love bubbles) is getting smaller and smaller.

Wish all animals receive good love & care

Hmm I have quite a number of stuffs to write about. But the one thing that triggers my mind now is an abandoned dog. I have never taken care of animals before. Well I have pet rabbits, tortoise before..but that were long before I can remember when I was just kiddo. Of course, even if I remember, pulling rabbits ears and spinning tortoise on its shell definitely doesn't make me sound like a good animal carer. In fact, I doubt my ability to take care of things, from plants to animals to people. I have a heart for them, but just didn't think I have hands for them. I find myself too forgetful, too rough to handle life.
Well I received a text from my cousin asking if I can keep an abandoned dog for a while. I got really   excited about it, thinking how am I gonna ask my mum for permission to do so. Though I have qualms about how am I gonna take care of a dog. But the thought of the dog suddenly being abandoned out in the open with just a plate of water some people left for it, my heart kind of sank. I have seen how my friend took care of her beloved dog, Rei. She is really a fortunate girl to have my friend to take care and love. And I do understand how animals strike this connection with human. I was just hugging Rei yesterday. She is warm and the moment I press the door bell, she was right there in front of me. I was surprised at her speed since she can hardly walk with her crippled leg after an operation some time ago. I held her in my arms, walked around my friend's place. She is so warm. I must admit I find it hard to resist loving these little furry friends.

Anyway, I reached home, saw my dad and thought wow asking my dad may have better chance. But to my disappointment, his ans was a flat no and my mum was complaining how dogs can have furs around and how she dislike people who keep pet. Though of course, I think that is her ignorance at some point about pet from what she heard from people. Yes dogs to shed fur, make noise, poo.. But don't we human do all those as well. Well I got back into my room, my brother walked in and asked me my dad's response. I said no. My brother mentioned Shihtzu is known for its notorious barking and skin problem. My sister agreed. My brother left the room to shower, my sister continues her sleep. And I just sat there at my desk, tearing away not sure why. But tears just well up. I'm such a kiddo. Sometimes I do feel like I'm the youngest in the family. This reminds me of how I bought milk bottle and powder for a kitten I found at my neighbor's flower pot.

Well, wish all animals receive good care and love from their human friends.

And thanks to Bird for being a listening ear and offer that I could keep a dog in our home next time if I really really really want to. hehe well, I probably wouldn't specially buy a dog but knowing that I could keep animal and Bird being so understanding make me feel so loved!
