Gardening

Just read an article about Business lesson from a quiet gardener from ijourney. I can't help but amazed by such a synchronicity. Just some time ago, my friend adopted a little piece of land at the rooftop of her workplace to plant some corns. And last weekend, we went to have a look and clear some weeds from the "plantation". Of course, we weren't thinking about business at all. It was all fun and great form of exercise for us. And most of all, seeing those corns "popping" out from the leaves just left us in awe. That was my first time clearing weeds. It's not as easy as one may think. First have to identify which are the weeds and shove some soil out to pull out the roots and in the midst of doing all these, have to pay special attention in not chopping the roots of the sweet corn! And after clearing the weeds, follows some tying of little poles to make the sweet corn growing straight up and doesn't (in my friend's words) "fracture" its stem. Oh at first, I can't bear to get rid of the weeds. Because to me, they are lovely plants too. I spotted a tiny mushroom growing out from the little windmill decor. But of course, the objective is to grow corns, not weeds nor mushrooms. So back to the big picture, I plucked out the weeds around.
Now to think of it in relation to business, maybe that's a little reminder for us to always remember what is our objective of business; the big picture. And who are we targeting at, what do we want to achieve. Because it's easy to settle for the weeds and tell myself that weeds are beautiful too. (Maybe a little like how business tends to fall into the trap of targeting at the easy customers, despite knowing they are not the intended group of consumers for long term goal.)
And like what the article mentions, seriously gardening is a lot about harmony, balance. Put fertilizer, but not too much. Water it, but not over do it. Expose to sun, but remember we are not grilling the corns yet. Planting and gardening takes a lot of care and attention to notice every single element to be in place for a healthy growth. The water, soil, density of plants, sun, fertilizer, weeds, seeds. And of course, not forgetting, to cause less harm to the insects that inhabit in vicinity.
In my own opinion, gardening is some form of exercise in striking the balance mindlessness and mindfulness. Mindlessness as in it kind of clear your mind of unnecessary thoughts since you have to use physical energy and attention while taking care of the land, the roots of plants. Mindfulness as in it practices heighten awareness of surrounding environment, higher consciousness of co-existing with a lot more life forms than we usually notice. The ants, the bees, the butterflies...the caterpillar...they are all there. The food we eat; the veggies, the corns, the rice all have to go through the process of growing from seedlings to harvesting by hands. The next time we eat a ladyfinger or a corn, remember how much care it has received from nature and its caregiver before it can reach us as food.

Lovely little moment

Saw this from Sofawn and I simply adore it.
How many times have I dreamt of sitting by a tranquil lake in the embrace of nature with birds singing and my feet in the cool water as I stir alittle ripples and admire the reflection of the surrounding on the face of the clear water:) This is simply so lovely!!!

Flying draco! Take the leap

woohoo!!! saw this today!!! while walking in to work. hehe that sparks up my morning!
I thought it was a bird that flew pass, so tiny, so swift. It landed on a tree. I take a close look, thinking that its a bird biting on to a piece of green leafy. And suddenly realise it has tail!!! it's a lizard!! a draco!
A flying dragon?! hehehe so excited!!! Google on it and its name is really Draco! Draco sumatran! hehe
I love my work place where it's near the forest!

sgwildanimals.fortunecity.com/reptiles/lizards/fl.html

Strangely! Bird sent me this in the morning before I met the lizard who took the leap.
I didn't quite get it till Bird text me again
" The pic is an encouragement to take a leap and do what you wish
because sometimes it takes falling to fly"
How amazing isn't it?! haha and here I met a flying lizard! who don't really fly but take leap from a vantage height in order to glide!! woohooo!
It's amazing how it glide and able to aim the landing point so swiftly!!!
Great Morning to start with!!!
Now it gets me thinking what do I wish to do and gota take that leap!!!
That's quite a list!
1. In terms of work; Yeah! Service, organization structure design! Designing, sparkling and sustaining the pulse of organization! That's what I love to do! I always thought I love to do branding, but recently an insight show me (Thanks to the strength quest Bird let me do) that I love something beyond and deeper than branding, I'm interested to be the doctor of a organization, to monitor the pulse of it, the morale of each individual, the momentum of the heartbeats and sustaining a healthy pulse!

2. In terms of fun; I would love to paint something on a canvas! But always cant get an idea what to paint! hehe so here's something to play on!

3. In terms of life; To get on next phrase of life, to marry! haha (Something I used to have resistance, fear towards because it seems woman's life is so short. You marry, kids and turn "yellow") But with Bird, it feels so natural and looking forward to this next phrase together:)

up in your hands

This video get me dancing around in my room!! yeah!! give me some experimental stuffs like this!!! Jeez! yeah! hands up in the air!!! let the papers fly! quit the queue! If someone is dying and still have to wait for paper work to go through from A to B to C to..... Is it still consider efficiency? How many times you heard people behind the office desks said they are trying! But trying is not enough if what someone is competing with time to stay alive. Trying is to shallow a word. Say do your best. Not try your best.
Aww this is such amazing simple song that speaks so much for some part of the world where so often being forgotten.

Mother,
I've gotta get out of here
So I can save our family
From this poverty
And when I make my money
I'll send it back to you

Father,

Give me strength, I pray
I have to end this misery
It's causing too much pain
I'm gonna look for richer lands
Where the money's made

I'm gonna put my whole world

In your hands
I have to put my whole world
In your hands
In your hands

Mister,

Please let me work somehow
You've kept me waiting eighteen months
And still I'm not allowed
And everytime you promise me :
"Not much longer now "

I've to put my whole world

In your hands
You've got my whole world
In your hands
In your hands
Listen to me, listen to me

Mister,

Mr ! You say you're trying
But don't you know my brother's dying
You say "It won't be long"

But why am I so cursed

For where I am born ?

You've got my whole world

In your hands
I've had to put my whole world
In your hands
I'm gonna put my whole world
In your hands
I've had to put my whole world
In your hands
In your hands.

Under the Bodhi tree

Sometime ago, there were a few heart-shaped leaves growing from a corner of the pavement..I thought it was beautiful and I walked away feeling graced by the beauty.

I took that same path for countless time each day I knock off from work as I walk to the bus stop.

Yesterday, I took the same path. I stop there because Bird was taking picture of a cat. I looked up the sky as I waited. I realise I am in the embrace of a tree. Covering me like a curtain with its heart-shaped leaves, leaving window for me to watch the clear blue sky of the evening.

I am standing below a Bodhi tree.
I took a few steps back.

I smiled. I am amazed.

The leaves which I saw sometime ago have grown into a beautiful leafy tree.

I am not aware it has grown so tall:)

Reflections:

Every small little thing and moment has the possibility of becoming big. We just have to give it some time to grow.

Sometimes we need to stop, turn around and take a few steps back in order to realise the beauty and graciousness we are surrounded by.

At other times, it takes another person or event to bring to our attention of what we have and the greatness in it and us. So we just have to trust that there is always a guiding light if we let be.

Bee's little escapade

Love the green, sun and blue sky!
Photos taken from my little escapade round my neighbourhood:) Nice time being alone:)

Run with your heart

Rainbow rainbow!!! I finally get to witness these beautiful rainbow on two separate days! And lesson learn: Sometimes miracles happens when you least expected it so.
This is the best reward a full day of packing my room! Just as I was trying to snap a picture the colour of the sun for Bird to see, I saw a spot of colours through my phone screen. I thought I was using some filter in my phone apps. But I wasnt! and a closer look! I was elated! It's rainbow! Something I consider a miracle because it is that tiny gap of opportunity that one get to catch a glimpse of these colourful decoration of the sky. And I'm thankful that both the sun and bird have kind of lead me to this:)

And here's me in the train with my brother..as I suddenly spotted something like a rainbow across the sky as the train passes by one of my favourite place:) I asked my brother can I get off the train to see rainbow..he didn't reply me and before he know, I jumped out of the train and happily went trying to snap a picture of it. Next moment I asked him can I go down to the field to catch the rainbow. He nodded his head (by this time, it's a little black) I ran down to the open field; no more rainbow! It's already gone. But I'm happy nonetheless. Because I seen it, I run after it. I did all I could at that moment to chase after what I love. Yea. When you love something so much, you just run with your heart. And guess, that's bee:) It's not about whether we get it or not in the end, it's about taking that step in full blast, doing all you could to get it! That's the spirit!
So thank you rainbow:) thank you sun who lights form the rainbow:)
I'm glad to witness this little rainbow in that split moment:) A moment to remind me to appreciate each and every moment of life. For each moment is a miracle:) And most of all, when you love something so much, you go all out to get it!

Lovely morning w Bird

It's a happy morning with sweet surprises from Bird & the universe..
I love my morning musing.. and feeling inspired by little personal projects in mind:)
Personal projects drive bee's energy:) Because it is those times where I can just grin silly at some things and naively do it out of nothing but pure heart and love from my soul:)

Little quotes

Found these quotes on little postcards
and I'm loving it! Both Bird and Bee are down with flu..
or maybe I just need quiet time. Writing in here with the breeze brushing my hair on my face makes me feel great:) Love to be by the sea.

A large drop of sun lingered on the horizon and then dripped over and was gone, and the sky was brilliant over the spot where it had gone...
~John Steinbeck

Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns it calls me on and on across the universe.
~John Lennon
Do stuff.  Be clenched, curious.  Not waiting for inspiration's shove or society's kiss on your forehead.  Pay attention.  It's all about paying attention.  Attention is vitality.  It connects you with others.  It makes you eager.  Stay eager.
~Susan Sontag

For me, the camera is a sketch book, an instrument of intuition and spontaneity.

Tasting and being in touch

Have you ever feel like that you've done so much and maybe alittle too much for you to handle..
Have you wish you could just sit on a hill and watch the world passes by.. (This reminds me of a song "The fool on the hill" by The Beatles)
Have you just hope to be in peace with yourself before moving onwards to anything else..
Well...
I'm feeling all the above now.
Listening to ukulele mix of Beatles..aww.. Beatles.. the magic of their song never wear off.
It eases my mind alittle and return me to that light feather that floats with the wind.
Or maybe it's those muscle relaxant tablets that I took. It's such a pity that I have problem relaxing myself that I have to resort to tablet to slow down my mind and let me be alittle more comfortable with myself and what I'm doing. It's the year end. But in no way it feels like it. Because somehow I'm already in 2012 already. I feel as if I skipped the new year. I skipped the joy of Christmas, busy planning whatever needs to be done and filling up dates to meet deadline.

I have my music on every moment I travel to and fro work. But never have I listen to music in such a manner for a long time. Really simply listening to the lyrics and each melody play by each instrument. Each string, each notes..makes me smile. Bring me to a happy land. A land where it is alright to just simply be who you are and do what you feel and believe.
It's a shame I only realise that music has somehow been just a form of escapade for me and not really being appreciated like a glass of wine or a pint of fruity foamy ice cold beer.
Suddenly I get it why do those black and white oldies films always seems to show someone sitting by a bar or a gramophone doing nothing but smoking cigar or sipping wine so so slowly..
They are tasting the music. Tasting the moment as the smoke gathers in a little ball rolling in the air.
*suddenly realise its been a year since the last time I been to roomful. How time flies while you are busy making ends meet. Why do designer tend to smoke weeds..well thanks to media and profit making machines..everything is about speed. Designers just got rolled over and over projects..and so often it's not because they are drained of ideas. It's simply because their mind is pushed so fast that they need some weeds to reduce those speed. To hear their heart beats again. To do a little tap dance.

Love how he skip and hop..on the hill...and those silly grin...makes me feel thankful to be able to listen to this beautiful music and be in touch once again..

My lunch

My lunch! Instant noodle with fishballs and egg. Accompanied by ikan bilies my mum prepared earlier. At home, we seldom have meals in the kitchen because the size is simply not very conducive. But at times, when I'm alone at home, I do love to eat in the kitchen especially a day like this where the sunlight shines in with gentle breeze, birds chirping and blue sky with white clouds:)
This is a luxury:)
Enjoy simple pleasure in life and you will realise the beauty of it:)

Love chances

How many times we gone all ways to look for the one true love
How many chances have we got to meet the one
Over the roof and the field, we flew paper planes across the sky
Through the clouds and the trees, among the birds and the bees,
We laugh and have fun just being us
back to those simpler days
where we were just kids
and love is simply two souls connected as one
How many times we have probably look at one another
then deny the voice in our hearts
How many times we have spoken the heart of one another
then just look at each other and smile
Over the hills and the trees, we waited patiently in the cold air of dawn
for the first light to rise to the dance in our hearts
Did I tell you I was trying so hard to hide the warmth and joy that touched my soul
Did I tell you..
I wish we could stay up on the hill longer, even forever
this is a moment when I recognize
you are the one
- Bee for Bird
(inspired by House at Pooh Corner by Kenny Loggins)

Rain and fallen leaves

The rain...and fallen leaves

Washing away wounds and memories

as the cloud spun in a dance of letting go...

As I walk into the day..
the clouds gather,
spinning into a dance
in a swirl of the wind
Rain washes away
wounds and memories like dead leaves
released from hanging on
Life takes a new path
as fresh leaves grow
and flower bloom
after the rain
where the rainbow
reveals itself

In the small things, we love....

In the small things,
Found the love in us.
A love with compassion
in our souls.
In the small things,
there lives the moments of an universal,
beauty can only be seen
when we allow ourselves to bend our knees
and try a different perspective:)

To love a person is to learn the song in their heart

I thought this is so true and beautiful. I'm grateful to have Bird listen to me when I'm feeling not so great at times. Could we be complete without another person? Guess we can, but just maybe what we need is not just being complete but to have someone constantly there to sing us our song when we forgotten our identity, our life in the midst of work and other concerns.
Just like reflections, sometimes it takes another part of us to remind us how we look like when we are angry, frustrated, upset, loved and so on...
Like echoes, sometimes it takes another voice to remind us what we already know but couldn't recognize.
And like love, it is one great thing that opens the heart to give and receive:)
I love you, Bird
